Now it depends on what my Retailer can make me for an offer for it. I bought an Apollo Twin X Duo and I already think about returning it for a Twin X Quad. Get the X Quad or X Duo + Satallite Quad!!! It’s like ordering a MacBook Pro - get as much memory and disk space as you can afford, because they can’t be upgraded (internally) later. I was in a rush on my last reply, but DSP are precious resources that you will use when you start purchasing new plugins (watch out, it becomes an addiction!).

So I was really happy that I decided with the Quad over the Duo and I wound up getting an Octo satellite as I wound up buying a lot of UAD plugins (I also bought a lot of other plugins too, like Eventide, IK Multimedia, Lexicon, Metric Halo, PA, Soundtoys, Valhalla). Once I was able to setup my Quad when it arrived and tried the free plugins (both the promo ones that came with it at the time and the legacy ones), I was blown away with their quality compared to other plugins (at the time, I had NI Komplete 11, Waves, and iZotope).

I read a lot of reviews and although I couldn't demo the plugins, I heard a lot of people eventually upgraded to get more DSP to use more plugins for tracking (and also mixing but mainly for tracking because you can't use the satellite DSP's for tracking). I'm just a hobbyist but I was in the same position you are in when I decided to make my first UAD purchase last year. Thank you for your time and anyone who would like to join me in the Refer a Friend would be delighted! I don't think I will use more plugins than those. I plan to use the Classics Analog Bundle and the plugins that come with the current promotion when I buy an Apollo, but in the future I will also buy some Channel Strip as the Neve, Voxvox or maybe the Avalon. My music store still has a unit of Apollo Twin MKII QUAD at that price and they say it's the last one they're going to have because they don't deliver in Europe anymore.Īre they worth the $250 weight difference for the 2 extra DSPs, taking into account that I'm only going to do small mixes?

Having said that, I wanted to ask your opinion on whether the DUO or QUAD version is better for the use I'm going to give it, taking into account that there is about $250 difference (€777 vs. In short, I will not use my new support for commercial purposes. As I said, my main work is not the studio productions and mixes, however I do small projects for friends, acquaintances and for myself. I'm a live sound technician, that's my job, but I trained as a studio technician and I'm also an amateur musician (I play guitar, bass and piano). After a long time of informing myself and thinking about it I am determined to change my old Focusrite 18i8 for an Apollo Twin MKII.
